Log cabin
I designed this log cabin quilt probably in 2004. It's been on a UFO pile for too long. I'm in the process of quilting it, and want to finish it. I love this quilt. I've always liked log cabins.It is in FL waiting for me.
Copper Canyon
Copper Canyon - Spring 2009
I made this wallhanging for the Peace River Quilter's Spring Challenge. It is the first real contemporary quilt I've designed and made. The challenge had to have polka dots and circles on it.
This quilt has beading on it, angelina, eyelash yarn covered pipe cleaners, painted and shriveled (?) tyvek, free motion quilting, specialty yarn, decorative leaves. It was so much fun to make, and I remember wondering if I had enough stuff on it. When do you quit. I quit when it was due.
My son Jeff wanted this quilt, so he has it, and has had it framed.
By the way, I didn't win the challenge.

Watson retreat quilters
These are the Watson retreat quilters. My mother-in-law Dora is responsible for getting us all into quilting, and we all love it, and love getting together every June. We do a charity project every year, and behind us are some of the 70 + pillowcases we all made and gave to Children's Hospital in St. Paul in honor of my granddaughter Amanda.
We had our first retreat the summer of 2003. We've had a lot of fun projects, challenges, and many laughs with our party night and the white elephant exchange.

The whole quilt. I think there should have been more contrast between the ocean fabric and the land.
The second picture is our youngest grandson, Evan at Teddy Bear Park in Stillwater.
The third picture is Kyla and Megan playing miniature golf in Port Charlotte, FL. They came to visit Grandma and Grandpa, it was a great time.

I'm not sure why I made this quilt. It may have been a challenge for the Watson Quilt retreat of 2009.
I tried to use fabrics that sort of depicted each state, and fused them on. I then put vacation pictures of our family
here and there. My DH Lowell, bless his heart, did all of the pictures.
The Zebras Went Crazy
The Zebras Went Crazy - August 2010 -I designed this quilt using RaNae Merrill's techniques for her new book Magnificient Mandala Spiral Quilts, coming to book stores in Nov. 2010. I was privileged to be chosen, along with 68 other quilters to try her design techniques and make a quilt or two for her book. It was a real dream come true to be involved in this project.
It is 60" x 60", and paper pieced. It was quilted by Gwen Baggett. She did a wonderful job.

My friend Lynn Kampi and I made these journal covers for an online contest. We didn't win, but we had fun making them. Summer 2009
Necktie spiral quilt
I made this necktie quilt for my high school girlfriend Marion (Enslin) Jacobs using her husband Paul Jacobs ties. Paul passed away in 1997.
This mess ???? really is the ties in order per the wedge they are sewn into. I must be almost finished as the pieces are pretty cut up and small. The second picture shows the middle complete. Now I'm trying to decide what color to use for the border.
The quilt is now finished as of August 19, 2010. I will post the finished picture soon. I quilted in the ditch in the middle part, and I didn't know if the quilt or I would wear out first with all of the turning, pulling and shoving thru the
machine. I quilted the outside borders using free motion quilting, and learned a few things in the process. It's always good to learn something new during a project.I designed this quilt using RaNae Merrill's technique in her new book called Magnificient Mandala Spiral Quilts, which will be in the book stores in Nov. 2010. I had the privilege of working with RaNae, along with 68 other quilters to design and make a quilt or two for this new book. It was a dream come true to be involved in this project of hers.
